I can feel the excitement as holidays are here. Are you feeling the same? If so, then sing with me, “Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle all the way. Oh! what fun it is to ride In a one horse open sleigh.”
Oh! I love this song. Don’t you?
It is party time guys. Because the Christmas and the New Year are only a few days away. So, what are you waiting for? If you haven’t started your holiday shopping, hit the stores right now.
Well, I think, holiday preparations can never get over no matter how early you start. What do you think? But, you have to admit that holidays are both exciting and expensive. It can dig a hole in your wallet if you aren’t careful while splurging.
Here, I bring you some of the most affordable holiday decorating ideas that won’t put much pressure on your pocket:
1. Dress up your front door
Give your guests a festive feeling when they enter your house by decorating the front door. Use the Christmas tree, ribbons, ornament balls and stars and wreaths.
Place the wreath in the middle of your door and hang the ornament balls from the Christmas tree. You can use last year’s decorating items if they’re in good condition.
2. Decorate your staircase
If you have a staircase in your house, illuminate it with string lights and swags. It’ll give a magical touch to the guardrails. You can also use ornament balls and stars, ribbons and garlands to brighten up your staircase.
3. Embellish your table
Are you hosting a holiday dinner party at your home? If yes, then give your dull table a festive look with these tricks like a DIY wreath chandelier, your good old fancy plates (if any), handmade candles, few fresh flowers, and so on.
4. Renovate your garden
If you haven’t cleaned your garden or backyard for a long time, do it right now. Throw out all the dried leaves and garbage that’s making the yard dirty.
Beautify your garden with potted plants and flowers, faux grass rug, and Christmas tree. Or, turn your boring looking wooden pallet into a cozy sofa or a display cabinet and keep it at the corner of your backyard or garden.
5. Brighten up dull corners of the house
A well-decorated corner can attract anyone’s eyes. Generally, I tend to overlook the corners of my house. Do you do the same thing? If so, then stop doing it and start decorating this neglected part of your home.
Turn the corner wall into an art gallery, hang a chair, or keep a tall flower vase or a pallet sofa. These ideas are low cost; hence, you don’t have to break your bank to beautify the corners.
6. Furnish the walls
Jazz up your bare walls by using washi tapes, wallpapers, or simply by placing a mirror on it. Display family photographs or keep a bookshelf or a showcase. Change the position of your couch and keep it in front of the wall. It’ll add sparkle to your blank wall.
If you really want your walls to scream Christmas, wrap your picture frames in wrapping paper and ribbon to look like Christmas presents!
The kitchen walls are important too. Beautify your kitchen walls by hanging coffee mugs or pictures of your favorite dishes.
7. Dress up the mantel and the fireplace
The mantel and the fireplace occupy a large portion of our home. So, decorating the fireplace and the mantel is a must this holiday season. Use lights, DIY candles, photo frames, vases, a large mirror and showpieces to embellish the mantel. You can also place the decorated Christmas tree beside the fireplace. It’ll add a festive touch to your residence.
8. Decorate the windows
Windows shouldn’t be left out when you’re ornamenting the whole house. Hang beautiful drapes, ribbons, glittery Christmas ornaments, and DIY decorative pieces or wreaths. You can also keep potted plants or candles on the window shelves.
9. Make It Fun! Make it You!
Holiday decorating should be fun, not stressful. Remember, your house doesn’t have to look like it is straight from a magazine, make it your own! If you don’t have a lot of money, that is ok. Be creative and use what you have.
Make Holiday decorating extra fun this year by playing Christmas music, and inviting friends over to make DIY Holiday crafts!
I hope these decorating ideas have helped you. But, remember, keep your ornamentations simple and elegant. It’ll look clumsy if over do it. For more ideas, you can always go on Pinterest!
Wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
