Create Beautiful DIY Spice Jars

I am obsessed with spices and seasonings. Since I love to create my own spice jars and mixes I wanted a beautiful way to display them.

I buy a variety of different brands, shapes, and sizes of spices but I wanted my spice cupboard (yes a whole cupboard) to look somewhat uniform.

I spent some time figuring out my style, and was able to create a look I love while living on a tight budget.

Below are instruction on how I created my own beautiful spice jars while on a budget!

Create DIY Spice Jars

Step One- Pick A Style, Get The Jars

The first step is figuring out the types of jars you like. There are many different styles, sizes, and shapes. Do research, and find a style you will be comfortable using for years.

I picked out two styles of jars that I loved. One is smaller for spices. The other one is larger for mixes or items that I use more frequently.

If you price items out online you can get the best deals. I ended up purchasing my spice jars in the store using coupons and deals. I did research and discovered the style I wanted, then found the best price.

Alternatively you can use small mason jars to store spices in!

Step 2: Purchase Labels and Chalk Pens

To create these labels I decided to use chalkboard labels and chalk pens.

The benefits about using chalkboard labels is that you can easily wash it off with warm soapy water and change the labels. Switching spices is easy. Plus when you use a spice, you can easily wash the jar (hand wash only) and relabel it once the jar is dry.

I found 2 different sized labels (to fit my 2 jars) at a local craft store. I used mobil coupons to get 50% off these items. If you purchase your labels and chalk pens separately you can utilize your coupons.

If you find a really good deal online please order online. Craft supplies can be found online for good prices! Just know what your local stores are priced at. Sometimes if you buy things such as labels in bulk you can get a really good deal.

Step 3: Label Your Jars and Add Spices

To make your spices look uniform I recommend you try to place the labels in the same place. Center your labels before you write the names of the spices on them. The great thing with using chalkboard labels is that if you make a mistake, you can wash it off and retry!
