DIY Tastefully Simple Garlic Garlic Seasoning

I love Tastefully Simple’s Garlic Garlic seasoning mix. I used to ask for it for Birthdays or Christmas, because it is fairly expensive. When I would get a new jar, I coveted it, using it sparingly so it wouldn’t run out. When I started making my own spice mixes several years ago, Garlic Garlic was the first seasoning mix I wanted to replicate. I thought it would be easy to copy, but it wasn’t. Luckily, after many failed attempts I finally found a recipe that rivals the original. It is so good, that when I did a blind taste test with my family, they couldn’t tell the difference. Actually, they prefered my version over the original.

This spice mix is so amazing because it is versatile, delicious, and inexpensive! I was able to buy all of the ingredients in bulk, making the cost even less!

Ingredients for garlic garlic copycat recipe include simple and delicious spices, easy to get cheaply.

Large Batch Garlic Garlic Ingredients:

  • 8 TBSP Dried Minced Garlic
  • 2 TBSP Dried Chopped Onions
  • 1 TBSP Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 2 tsp Dried Chives
  • 1 tsp Dried Dill weed
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Basil

If you don’t want to make such a large amount, cut the recipe in half. Although you are going to want to make more, trust me!

Directions:

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container to preserve freshness.

Garlic Garlic Dip Recipe:

Mix together 1/2 cup of Mayo, 1/2 cup of sour cream and 2 TBSP of Garlic Garlic Mix.

Stir and chill for at least 2 hours.

Alternatively, you can just mix 2 TBSPs of Garlic Garlic mix into 1 cup of sour cream. I don’t buy mayo often, so I usually just make my dip with sour cream

Other Uses:

Garlic Garlic is a very versatile spice. I use this seasoning to add flavor to roasted potatoes, homemade chili, homemade vegetable beef soup, chicken, taco meat, and stir fried vegetables. Any recipe that calls for “Garlic Powder” can be made extra delicious by adding Garlic Garlic instead!

  • How much does this make, looking to make large batch as Christmas gifts.

    • 1 TBSP will make 1 dip combined with 16oz of sour cream. I usual quadruple the recipe, buy spice jars from the dollar store and fill each spice jar for a gift. You can make as much as you want!

I am curious how much this makes. I was looking to do a large batch to give as gifts this Christmas.

    • A TBSP of it makes a great dip in 16oz of sour cream. You can also use the seasoning in cooking as well to taste. If you buy a spice jar you can fill several with a large batch. Sometimes I quadruple the recipe and it will yield several spice jars!

  • I am on a no salt diet. Will still be good if I omit the salt?

    Reply
    • Yes! It’s good without salt just doesn’t have the full flavor pallette salt brings.
